When I move the mouse cursor in Ubuntu, it starts flickering and disappearing and reappearing. I just ran into this issue this week as well at school. I was able to fix it by doing the following:.
Under the Input menu I changed the option for Optimize mouse for games to Always, which had been previously set to Automatic. Matt’s answer is more of a workaround, its not a solution. Doing that solution will lock your mouse into the VM, and the performance will be bad. It feels like VMware tools was not installed at all.
The problem for me exactly that, the Intel Xe graphics driver. I was running version 27, Needed to upgrade to v I specifically used this download. After reboot, I fired on my vm again, and found that the mouse problem stopped, and the VM was usable again. Can leave Optimize mouse settings for gaming as default Automatic. Probably the same thing, Upgrade the driver. Need to do research about it though, find make a model, and find out if there are any updates out there.

I changed it to always and I also changed it to never, but still in both cases, it didn’t work. I would try to figure out why VMware tools won’t install. What does the Greyed out portion say? Reinstall or Install? Where is “In VMware”? This is a poor answer. When enabling this feature it feels like vmware tools is not even installed.

VMware drivers reinstalled. Any ideas? Many of my mouse clicks don’t reach through to the VM Windows 10×64, Workstation 16 hardware. Mouse cursor is jumping.
VM is extremely slow compared to FHD setting when there is no such problem at all. I can not reproduce the described issue on my test machine. My host is Win10 H2 with WS I tried setting the host to 4K resolution and hold the mouse to move around on host and in guest, however neither see the mouse stutter on Win10 H2. We need more information to figure out what happened.
Could you record a video and provide more information about your test environment? If you’re saying it work via Remote desktop, you can try to disable 3D and see if the issue is gone. Mouse cursor is slowing down choppy when “Free Stretch” option is turned on. Please also note that I am using 4K display. I think my setup exhibits the same problem as the initial user suggested, I think I captured a video of it. Please look into the reply I had above as it has a video showcasing the issue. I was not using scaling as well. But by default operating systems apply some sort of scaling. Can reproduce the exact same problem andylamp is facing. Its not related to the guest in any way as its already happening before booting any guest.
Guys – this is an Nvidia driver issue from the looks of it; I have downgraded to version I have also created an issue with Nvidia support for two months however, they have yet to do anything about this. Sadly downgrading the driver doesnt seem to work for everyone, Edit: I was able to downgrade to ” What NVidia card do you have?
I must respectfully disagree with your conclusion. Using your post, I grabbed the version you suggested, one before it,, and two after it including the latest.
The mouse pointer is present and visible when I’m setting up the game, but the moment the game starts, it disappears. Any clues as to why this happens or more particularly how to fix it?
Restart the guest machine after Tools have been installed and then check that the mouse is working correctly. This works really well for me. I found the answer here.
